It's less than a year since the last volume. What's the rush? IP: Logged |

It's less than a year since plastic man archives vol.4 yet it doesn't stop people predicting it'll be out this year. "what's the rush?" Jess IP: Logged |

Good point. Same applies to All-Star. Those two titles have a track record of coming out annually, though. So people can be expected to think they're due. IP: Logged |

Green Lantern Volume 4 was eleased June 26, 2002. All-Star Volume 7 was released August 14, 2002. Plastic Man Volume 4 was released November 27, 2002. All are on track for future volumes as far as I know. Chris ------------------ IP: Logged |

Although GL vols. 3 & 4 were issued in consecutive years, it's never been "official" that he's shifted into the fast lane - we may or may not get one this year. I would like to see it sooner rather than later myself since Katma Tui stands waiting at the entrance! IP: Logged |

I think that it is deceptive to count the number of months between volumes. DC has an annual meeting where they plan the schedule. I believe that they ask questions like "Should we publish All-Star in 2004?" not "Should we publish All-Star in March?" If the answer to question 1 is yes, then they figure out which month would be the best. Sometimes that will be significantly less than 12 months, sometimes significantly more. It all depends on the rest of the schedule. IP: Logged |

There's so much other great stuff clamoring to get between hard covers that I'd be content to have Hal coming out every two years. In fact, I don't want to see GL vol.5 until I get Flash vol.4, Atom vol.2, and Hawkman vol.2 all in my hands. Those four titles, together with JLA, Strange Adventures, and Mystry in Space with Adam Strange, constituted what I thought of at the time they were new as the core of "good" DC Comics. IP: Logged |

All-Star is just getting to the great stuff so I sure hope it's still on track (even more than I hope for a GA Flash # 2) But then again so is GL # 5. IP: Logged |

Although I realize their releases aren't officially connected, doesn't it seem unlikely that we'll see G.L. 5 before Flash 4? Glenn IP: Logged |

But GL has actually sped ahead of Flash. Flash was archived well before GL and now GL is ahead of it in volumes. Much as I like GL, I would prefer to see a couple of Flash archives first before another GL. Ideally, in the next few years, almost all the Schwartz super-heroes should be brought up to at least 1964--this means more Flash (3?), another Hawkman, another Atom, and another GL (Dynamic Duo and Justice League already have 1964 covered). I say almost because I doubt that Adam Strange could get that far in the next few years (if one includes Adam as a super-hero and not a science-hero) and sadly an Elongated Man volume seems unlikely any time soon. As much as I like Flash, I like the GL Archives alot more. I for one would happily purchase a fifth volume this year! Gary "here's to hoping they do indeed put SA GL Archives on a yearly schedule!!!" O. IP: Logged |

Allegedly (i.e. I can't remember where I read it - it might have been the Lying In The Gutter column) - Green Lantern volume 4 was fast-tracked by Paul Levitz when Gil Kane died, in order to generate royalties for Gil's family. IP: Logged |

quote: The early portion of Julie Shwartz's Silver Age superhero revival is my favorite DC period, and I am thrilled that we have so far received a significant portion of it in the archives. I'll keep buying as long as they keep publishing. I have prefered GL over Flash, largely because the Flash material was already mostly reprinted in 80 pagers and 100 pagers, so I've already read most of it. The GL archives are cooler because right from the first or second volume, there were quite a few stories I hadn't read. IP: Logged |

PeterCool:"GL Archives on an annual Schedule!" --------------- No - only volume 4 was speeded up. Bob Greenberger recently said that Green Latern was NOT on an annual schedule. IP: Logged |

I too would love a confirmation that GL has been fastracked. I grew up with GL, and it's so nice reading these early stories. Aso, I have been very impressed with the overall quality of the GL volumes, from hte cover images to the introduction. My wife and I have spent many a Saturday vurled up reading GL and Flash archives, so the more volumes, the better as far as I'm concerned. IP: Logged |

quote: I envy you that. I've been married 35 years, and while my wife and I share a lot of interests, and have gotten each other interested in a lot of our own favorite things (she taught me to make pie, and by extension to become a good cook; I got her into science fiction and fantasy and history), one thing I've never been able to interest her in at all is comics. Her mind just doesn't work that way. IP: Logged |

quote: My wife started out very anti comics, but one day, we went away for the weekend, and she had nothing to read and picked up a Flash Arcvie(volume 3) that I had taken with me. She liked it, and it's the best part of my weekend. We just sit, chill, and read... IP: Logged |

Comics are a tough sell to women in your life. I got my fiancee into Amazing Spider-man and Ultimate Spider-man. She dropped batman and Fantastic Four pretty quick and dragged her heels through one issue of Dark Phoenix before leaving it on a shelf. At least she lets me buy all the toys and books I want. And listens patiently to me drone on about them. IP: Logged |

My wife and I have sat down together and watched every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena. Trying to get her to read a comic though, is like trying to convince her I don't need to change my shirt. It just doesn't work. Glenn IP: Logged |

My wife didn't understand comics either, and I never really tried to push it but when I insisted that she read Watchmen, she loved it. She had no frame of reference for the nods to superhero history and manners but the story pulled her in. Since then I've had her read occassional issues here and there, but she's not an stuck on any particular heroes and I've never been able to get her hooked on a series. She does love to watch Justice League, though. And Batman, the Animated Series and Batman Beyond, too. ------------------ IP: Logged |

DC could you please make a vol 5? I love vol 1-4 and the golden age GL books. Please continue the GL volumes! IP: Logged |
